TEEC,

Purpose of TEEC is to develop environmental awareness and to promote sustainable values of life through training programs, projects and public information. Target group of TEEC are people (children and adults) living in Tartu and southern part of Estonia, also different organisations, companies, public sector. Our aim is to influence public opinion towards sustainable development.

TEEC is a developing foundation which was brought alive by people who care about nature. Six out of eight organisations which founded TEEC are  in their activities environmentally oriented organisations. When TEEC was founded Tartu Nature House became the first part of TEEC. Until this time Tartu Nature House had been the municipal hobby-school which had a long history since 1953. About 500 - 600 schoolchildren from Tartu and surrounding areas have been participating in Tartu Nature House activities every year in hobby-groups. In addition Tartu Nature House is dealing with following activities: organizing excursions, camps, nature knowledge contests and exhibitions for pupils. Running different projects concerning environmental education is an important part of Tartu Nature House work. Teachers of Tartu Nature House have been participating in compiling teaching materials for secondary schools.
