The Aura Centre that is annually visited by 300 000 people celebrated its 10-year anniversary on 1st October. During the next two weeks the health club in Aura offers discount price for its clients.
On 1st October in 2001 Aura Centre opened its doors for the first time and at the same year Aura won the title for Act of The Year in Tartu. Initially the number of visitors was predicted to be 500 people daily and for the year it was estimated to be 180 000. Throughout the last ten years the number of visitors have stayed above 300 000 people in a year. The record stays in the year 2007 when there were 1824 visitors in one day.
The Aura Centre is playing an important role in providing basic swimming lessons for the residents in Tartu. There has constantly being held mandatory swimming lessons for children in Tartu and in Tartu county 2nd class students. Three times a year there is also basic swimming course for students in 5th to 8th class and for adults. Two swimming clubs who have almost 400 students are actively using the Aura Centre for trainings. The Aura Centre is also used by Tartu Kalev Yacht Club, Estonian Academic Sports Federation, Diving Club, two Triathlon Clubs, Water Polo players, A Modern Penathlon Club, ski enthusiasts, skaters and others. There are 18 swimming contests in a year.
In a year Aura hopes to open a renewed and expanded health club above the current external terrace. The new health club will consist of Japanese sauna, Juniper sauna, 100-degree sauna, sanarium, cold water pool, cocktail pool, lounge and a conference room. The present steam sauna will become steam-sault sauna.
