Tartu Convention Bureau

Foundation Tartu County Tourism was established on 19 July 1999 by the City Government of Tartu and the Association of Local Authorities of Tartu. It was entered into the register of non-profit organisations and foundations at the Registration Department of the City Court of Tartu on 9 August 1999. The development of conference tourism in Tartu is also an important field of activity of SA Tartumaa Turism.
The Tartu Convention Bureau (TCB) has a legal status of a trade mark registered by Foundation Tartu County Tourism. The TCB has set itself an aim to promote activities of acquainting and developing Tartu as a conference city.

The principal tasks of the Tartu Convention Bureau are: 

·  to acquaint and advertise Tartu as a conference city.;
·  to develop the product conception of a conference city together with the public and the private sector and scientific research centres;
·  to design a marketing plan with incentives for each year and the fulfillment of the plan;
·  to develop cooperation with different conference and tourist organizations;
·  conference tourism marketing in the countries of target marketing and in Estonia;
·  the establishment and administration of the conference services data base (the Internet-based);
·  impartial counseling concerning the choice of conference venues, additional services, etc;
·  to compile information materials for the clients of conference tourism;
·  to work out a functioning cooperation network to convene a round-table meeting for the discussion of the issues of conference tourism;
·  to plan and carry out further education courses to fill the needs in cooperation with different organizations and agencies;
·  to collect and analyze statistical data concerning conference tourism in Tartu;
·  to analyze the conference services` conditions, further development and problems with the purpose of making conclusions, and when necessary, to make proposals to the municipal governments;
·  to inform the general public about the TCB activities and the most important events in the development of conference tourism;
·  to organize trips for tour operators, journalists to acquaint them with conference facilities; to maintain active communication with mass media.
